Smokey and sultry this Primitivo is light in color but delivers in terms of flavor. Chocolate and sweet tobacco lead on the nose with beautiful bright aromas of spiced plums and blackberries. Juicy and jammy but light on the palate, this wine is the sister grape of Zinfandel, which is expressed through and through. Spicy undertones accompanied by concentrated dried fruit offer an intriguing combination of flavors and aromas. Aged for 9 months in one year and neutral French oak barrels, the brightness and varietal character of this grape are able to take center stage in this wine.
• Sister grape of Zinfandel • Chocolate • Blackberry • Sweet tobacco • Spiced plums
• Not only are Zinfandel and Primitivo one and the same grape they're both identical to the unpronounceable Crljenak Kastelanski grape of Croatia, suggesting that both the US and Italian grapes originated somewhere along the Dalmatian coast.
